The Army’s Green RFP

On August 7th, the U.S. Army (through its Engineering and Support Center in Huntsville, Alabama) issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) seeking to procure reliable locally generated renewable and alternative energy utilizing Power Purchase Agreements or other contractual equivalents for up to $7 Billion over a period of ten years. Responses are due by October 5, 2012.

This RFP is one of several that aim to get the Army closer to its goal of producing or procuring at least 25 percent of its energy needs from renewable resources by 2025.

It’s a hot topic right now – and law firms Van Ness Feldman, Mayer Brown, Orrick and Reed Smith have all the details.
