Check out the newest Spotlight on knowledgemosaic!

Green Mien contributor Kyle Hargus summarizes the issue:

An organization entitled Our Children’s Trust, a non-profit dedicated to supporting environmental causes, has filed an official lawsuit against the U.S. Federal Government on behalf of future generations of children, specifically against key agencies like the Environmental Protection Agency, which play large roles in drafting environmental policy. This federal lawsuit has encouraged a number of state-level lawsuits in which minors serve as the plantiffs.

Non-profits sue the federal government because, as a non-profit, their legal costs are paid for by the government whether they win or lose. So these non-profits hire lawyers for $60K a year, sue the government with no chance of winning, then bill out their lawyer for hundreds of dollars an hour.
